Local Art Experiences

The Visual Arts Center, 210 Maud Street, Punta Gorda  941-639-8810

      The center offers classes, art socials, and open studios for members. Opening on February 18 and on display though April 16, the center hosts the 13th biennial National Art Exhibition, a prestigious juried show for 2D art. There is no admission fee.

Alliance for the Arts,  10091 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers  239-939-2787

     The alliance offers year round exhibitions. The all-Florida exhibit, a juried show, covers mediums from drawing to painting to glass, textiles, and printmaking. Admission is free. The alliance also offers one day and two week classes which cover different mediums of artist expression.

Centers for the Arts, Bonita Springs  26100 Old 41 Road  239-495-8989

     The center offers 50 different classes and sessions which covers just about every medium. There are also single night events with supplies included in glass, pottery, mosaics and glassblowing. The center exhibits members works of art from February 4-24 without an admission fee.

The Baker Museum,  5833 Pelican Bay Blvd., Naples  239-597-1111

     The museum on the Artis--Naples hosts a permanent collection of more than 3,500 pieces representing 20th and 21st centuryAmerican and Mexican movements. On the third floor is "Persian Seaform" a permanent ceiling installation by renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. Limited run exhibits include artists like Magritte and Monet.

BIG (Barrier Island Group) ARTS  Sanibel,  900 Dunlop Road,  239-395-0900

     The Dunham Gallery hosts several exhibits in 2022. An annual juried show challenges national and local artists to explore different mediums, styles and subjects for the January 28 through March13 exhibit. "Wet Paint" features watercolor artwork by award winning artists and runs from March 18th to April 24. There are expanded class space for instruction in a variety of mediums and online classes.

Englewood Art Center, 350 S. McCall Road, 941-474-5548

     The center is a division of the Ringling College of Art and Design which focuses on education, exhibitions and events for the promotion of creativity and appreciation in the community.
